Free Science Workshops for the Family

Families will enjoy attending the
Family Reading & Science Workshop at the Museum of Natural History.
This year, the free event will teach kids about science and their bodies.
Starting this weekend, the University of Michigan Natural History Museum is holding a series of free Family Reading & Science Workshops in public libraries all over Southeastern Michigan. The fun, family workshops about science are geared for children ages 6-11. This year's theme will aloow kids and their parents to explore the Evolution and Health and what it means to their bodies.

The first workshop at the museum will be held January 22 at 1:00 p.m.. "How YOU work: What are made of and what do your vital signs mean?" will help youth and tweens explore their bodies, DNA and better understand their individual vital signs.

  • Saturday, January 28, 10:00 a.m. - Dexter District Library
  • Saturday, February 4, 11:00 a.m. - Manchester District Library

The second workshop, "Germs, parasites, and allergies: Oh my! What makes us sick and what makes us well?" will teach children about how bodies become ill and how our bodies protect us. Families can find it at the museum on Sunday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m.

The third, and final workshop, "Build the $6 million you: Making the most of your health" will help the kids leanr about improving and maintaining health. Families can find it at the museum on Sunday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m.
